Pop Art Jewelry
Jewelry in primary bright colors, with bold shapes or graphic designs popped up on many runways during Spring 2008 New York fashion week. As colorful additions to numerous Spring collections, there were large pendants hung from structured cord like necklaces inspired from the "Mod" 60s look, fashioned from precious metals, enamel, wood or gemstones in abstract designs. Bracelets were bold in color, size and design and often layered for more impact.
American Collegiate Jewelry
Chain link necklaces and bracelets in prepster styles were paired with posh girl fashions such as pencil skirts and trim jackets. Hardly a new trend, there were some charm bracelets to be seen. Prep school inspired crest jewelry and "class rings" in gold and platinum were also used to add a flicker of bling to some of the toned down fashions.
Earrings
It is apparent that earrings are back in a big way. There are several styles that will be fresh this season: Earrings that coordinate but are not perfectly matched; reverse triangle shaped earrings where the widest part starts on the top of the ear; elongated teardrops; one long earring paired with one stud; button earrings with openwork and long earrings that swing.
Baroque Jewelry
Feminine, fantasy and flowers. These are the three words that depict this kind of jewelry best. Pear shapes, paisley and swirls are all common elements. Pearl jewelry is seemingly crafted with fresh eyes using brown and golden pearls paired with pavé diamonds and colored gemstones. Colored gemstones are also clustered together abundantly to form of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. The more color the merrier with this fanciful trend.
Classic Italian Link Jewelry
Interesting combinations of precious metals and materials help chain link jewelry look modern for spring. Bracelets using three shades of gold including rose, white and yellow become everyday staples. Gold links (both rose and yellow) intermixed with oxidized and blackened metals, colorful enameled links or those with pavé white or black diamonds are plentiful in both bracelets and necklaces.
